Pelican Art Gallery
Award winning fine art gallery with award winning artistsV-Day returns to Pelican Art Gallery
Posted on January 28, 2012We are thrilled to host the V-Day Petaluma events again this year!
I was astonished from an article in the Wall Street Journal last week regarding the conviction rate of domestic violence offenders in San Francisco. Over 20,000 reports of domestic violence and less than 2 dozen convictions. It’s only through education that we will be able to stem the violence against women & girls.
V-Day “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant & A Prayer” at Pelican Art Gallery Friday & Saturday, February 17th & 18th.
Vagina Monologues will be held on March 1st, 2nd & 3rd. All performances start at 7pm.
You can find out more about the events at http://v-daypetaluma.org/.
Hope you join us in support of ending violence against women & girls.

Swoopy by Stanley Mouse
Posted on April 13, 2010Stanley Mouse, best known for his posters of the 1960s music scene has created a new character named Swoopy. Stop by the Gallery to see Swoopy!!
This cute little character is the newest of Stanley’s creations. Having gotten so much positive feedback on Swoopy, Stanley intends to develop a series of paintings of this irresistible creature. Collectors should be quick to add this painting to your collection because it’s the first of the series!
Cinnabar event at Pelican Art Gallery a Success!
Posted on April 12, 2010Cinnalounge is a special treat that the Cinnabar Theater puts on once during each of their shows for their $500+ members. It is a VIP event that includes a distinguished speaker along with food and libations. Yesterday, April 11th, 2010, at Pelican Art Gallery, we hosted Shelley Fisher Fishkin, professor of English and Director of American Studies at Stanford University and the author or editor of 34 books on Mark Twain, including Lighting Out for the Territory: Reflections on Mark Twain and American Culture, Was Huck Black? Mark Twain and African-American Voices, The 29-volume Oxford Mark Twain, Mark Twain’s Book of Animals (article about Twain’s animal welfare concerns) and The Mark Twain Anthology: Great Writers on his Life and Work. She is the scholar who recovered Mark Twain’s forgotten play “Is He Dead?” in the archives, published it, and guided it to a critically acclaimed first-ever run on Broadway in 2007– 08. She is a past president of the American Studies Association and the Mark Twain Circle of America.always an interesting.
It was incredibly interesting and very timely as much of her presentation was about art.

V-Day “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant & A Prayer” at Pelican Art Gallery
Posted on February 21, 2010We are very excited about this week’s performances of the V-Day “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant & A Prayer” at Pelican Art Gallery Friday & Saturday, February 26th & 27th. Trisha Almond, the amazing force behind the Petaluma V-Day involvement, has done a great job of orchestrating the 2 performances at the Gallery and the “Vagina Monologues” to be held at the Community Center on March 13th.
This year’s spotlight monologue, featured in V-Day Petaluma’s “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant & A Prayer” and “The Vagina Monologues” productions, will be coming from Eve Ensler’s February 9 book release, “I Am An Emotional Creature: The Secret Life of Girls Around the World.”

Stanley Mouse Poster Helps Micky Hart with Haiti fundraiser
Posted on February 16, 2010We’re very glad Stanley Mouse has joined us for the Resident Artist Program here at Pelican Art Gallery.
Stanley Mouse created this poster to assist Grateful Dead drummer Micky Hart with his fundraiser on 2/13/2010 called Heartbeat for Haiti. At the Gallery the same night we raised $150 towards the cause.
As part of our current group show of our Masters of Today, Stanley provided the original painting that inspired the poster. You can stop by the Gallery to see both the original painting and the signed poster. It’s really amazing how much artwork Stanley donates to this type of fundraising. We’re proud to represent such a wonderful artist.
